Studeren voor de Stad ’Study for the City’ aims to involve students in the regional society. By the combination of education and entrepreneurship, we consolidate the livability and health of the city of Wageningen.

Stuvodes (Studeren voor de Stad / Study for the City) is a collaboration between Wageningen UR, Woningstichting, Solidez, SIFE and the Wageningen municipality. Stuvodes aim to improve the involvement of students in the Wageningen society. The Stuvodes projects provide student with the opportunity to see Wageningen from a totally different point of view. Stuvodes is mainly active in the fields of social and green entrepreneurship. By means of an entrepreneurial approach we can help local problems to be solve.

 

As an example: Social housing association “Woningstichting” currently owns a community center at Buurtse Bocht. This is in the very heart of Wageningen, close to the Stadsbrink. At this moment construction is taking place to accommodate a lunchroom. Buurtse Bocht is already a daycare for mentally disabled, accommodating for example a art library for mentally disabled artists, and large cooking facility. The new lunchroom will be operated by mentally disabled persons as well. The ‘s Heerenloo foundation is specialized in helping this kind of people run such a project.

 

Starting up a project like a lunchroom in Buurtse bocht requires a lot more than just a rebuilding. We think that a well designed business plan can really improve the quality of this project. Thisway Stuvodes helps people to reach their full potential by using the positive power of business.
